Virtual Flying

In recent months I have been quite busy with university exams and with my part-time job as a private chemistry teacher. The time I spent flying was unfortunately not very much. My flight exam should have been on the end of July, but it was moved to the end of September. As you could understand, I can not wait for that day!
As a non-resident student, I am learning to fly in Pisa but during summer holidays I'm back in my town, Reggio Calabria, in the south Italy.
So I can't fly almost for a month! Terrible!
But, luckly, someone created fight simulators, in particular flight simulator X! It is not like a real flight, obviously, but it is still very useful as a teaching tool. The most interesting thing is the opportunity to fly in a network, with other pilots and ATCs. The two most important networks for flight simmers are Vatsim (expecially in the US) and IVAO (the one I joined, with more EU users).
Flying in a network means you must fly like in the real world: you must compile a flight plan, follow all ATC's instructions, follow exactly the same procedure of real life flying and navigate as you would do in the real world. The most important differences between real flying and simulations are the "feeling" of aircraft's controls and the fact that I have no rudder pedals, so coordination is automatic. It is worth however to try flying in lots of difficult situations: you can simulate strong crosswind, rain, snow and everything bad you can find out there. It is a very good way to get an idea of what can happen in that situations: it is not the same, but it is very close.
It also really interesting to try things you can not do in real life. For example, landing a Beechcraft Baron 58 on my airstrip! Since a few day I started creating my own scenery, in particular the airfield where I am learning to fly: Aviosuperficie Valdera! If you want to fly virtual in the wonderful scenery of Tuscany, you can download my scenery from the list at the bottom of this post!

Well, now let's try to land a Hercules-C130 in a 700m grass strip!!

P.s. I am creating other FSX Tuscany airfield scenery, so I will periodically update this post with the new links! "Aviosuperficie" means "airfield".
